Don't mix your metaphors before they hatch
Temasek CEO Ho Ching (and wife of the Prime Minister, as if you didn’t know that already) needs to have a word to her speechwriters about that “mixed metaphors” thing. From her speech last week (previously on JRE):
As I have just highlighted, we have today established three sets of public markers; our annual Temasek Review, our credit ratings, and our bond spreads. They are like the 18th hole in a long game of golf, our credit ratings the tripwires or OB [out-of-bounds] markers, and our bond spreads our own singing canary [in a coal mine]…
So investing with Temasek is like playing a game of golf… in a coal mine… with tripwires at the out-of-bounds lines? Have I got that right?
