Via @leighsales, here’s the BBC’s newest comedy series: Taking the Flak. The Beeb’s comedy blog calls it “a comedy-drama following a team of journalists in an African warzone”, and it might just be the funniest thing to come out of the BBC since The IT Crowd.
It’s the story of a BBC stringer, working in a little country in Equatorial Africa, whose country suddenly becomes a hotbed of international news… in flies the BBC’s chief international reporter, and it all goes downhill from there. Think Frontline in the depths of Africa, with fixers and stringers and child soldiers and busted plumbing and “what goes on tour stays on tour” – and, inexplicably, LOLcats.
If you’re in the UK, you can get it on iPlayer; everyone else can hit up Mininova.
Update: here’s the promo.
