Here Be Dragons
Just around the corner from my apartment is the Hong San See Temple.
Built between 1908 and 1913, it also served as a school until the mid-1920s, and has been listed as a National Monument since the early 70s. A botched restoration in 1970 led to the removal of some of its distinctive architectural features, which are being replaced in the current round of restoration.
The temple itself is blocked off by construction work, but here’s a detail of the ornate dragon carvings on the roofline (shot from across the street with a 300mm lens).
