He's the cat by the bar toastin' to the good life

I didn’t even know Forbes had a “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list. But they do. And #1 on this year’s list is Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who banked $150 million after tax in the past 12 months.

The results were skewed by the sale of Glaceau (makers of terrifically expensive sugar water) to Coca-Cola; Mr. Cent acquired about 5% of Glaceau as part of a marketing deal back in 2004, and pocketed $100 million after tax on the sale.

Strip out the Glaceau acquisition (I think “net income adjusted for one-time events” is what the cool kids call it?) and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter would be the winner, with $75 million from sources as diverse as record labels, clothing, and the New Jersey Nets.
