British shot-put champion Hugh Jarms has been ejected from the Olympics after a drug screen tested positive for marijuana use. More to follow…

Update: Hugh Jarms is appealing his disqualification, on the grounds that he only used marijuana for religious purposes.

Mr. Jarms said in a statement that “[he lives] in a house where marijuana is a protected plant, and he smokes marijuana as part of the house’s shared religious activities.”

He also said that he believes he throws further when under the influence of marijuana.

When asked for comment, World Anti-Doping Agency chairman Dick Pound said “come on, everyone knows that people who live in grass houses shouldn’t throw stoned”.
