I Want...

Or, to give this article its full title, I Want But Am Absolutely Not Allowed To Buy Because It Would Be Utterly Pointless… If you’ve read Gizmodo or Engadget in the last month or so, you’ll have seen at least one article devoted to drooling over this: small_v3d.jpg This is the Motorola v3, aka “Razr”. Its shell is anodized aluminium; it weighs 89 grams; and in this tiny clamshell, it packs Bluetooth, a digital camera (only VGA resolution, unfortunately), an MPEG4 video player (despite having only 5.5MB of storage and no expansion slot), and quad-band GSM. It’s currently retailing for north of $1,000. I want one.

To be honest, I think I’ll wait six months. If past for is anything to go by, these things will be on eBay by then for about two-thirds of their launch price. For perspective, a Sony Ericsson T68i can now be bought on eBay for $80-$100. I bought one nearly years ago for three times that. Maybe when my contract runs out, it’ll be time to upgrade…
