Starring Jeremy Irons as “Totally Not Dick Fuld”

The Black List is “an annual list of Hollywood’s most liked unproduced screenplays”. Published on the second Friday in December, “dozens of screenplays that appeared on the list have been optioned, produced and released, many to great commercial success”. (And they’re not joking: one of the top three entries on the ’05 list was Juno, which went on to win the “Best Original Screenplay” Oscar in 2008.)

And there’s an interesting entry at #7 on this year’s list:

MARGIN CALL by JC Chandor - "Based on true events, the final twenty-four hours of [a] major global financial services firm."

It’s being shot right now, with a hell of a cast list (Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, and Jeremy Irons as not-Dick-Fuld). Look out for it at Sundance in January.

(And how has Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter not been optioned yet? “When the mother of future United States President Abraham Lincoln is murdered by a vampire, he begins a lifelong vendetta to rid the world of the heinous creatures”… c’mon, it’s made of money!)
