Grawlix: typographical symbols standing for profanities, which appear in [comic] dialogue balloons in the place of actual dialogue.

For example… if you were woken on a sunny Saturday morning by the sound of jackhammers working right outside your f*cking window what the hell is going on out there oh wait they’re digging up the pool and this is going to continue for three months can I break my lease yet, you might set your Facebook status as follows:

Josh awakens to the sound of jackhammers outside his bedroom window. %^$@#+*!!!
