This is probably not good: tech bible Wired’s February issue is only 112 pages thick, with only 32 of those pages being advertising.

There was an article doing the rounds a few years ago that showed a pretty significant correlation between Wired’s page count and the Nasdaq. Can’t find it for the life of me, but if anyone has a reasonably complete collection of Wired (or a database of its page counts), it’d be interesting to take another look at that correlation and see if it still holds up.

More fodder for the correlation theory: I have a 1999-vintage copy of Wired floating around somewhere that was north of 450 pages, most of it ads for dot-bomb flameouts like Webvan and Kozmo; there may even have been an article about how Flooz and Beenz were going to revolutionise B2C e-commerce enablement blah blah blah. Ahh, those were the days.
