Singapore Datapoint of the Day

Singapore’s vertiginous real estate prices have appeared previously on JRE, but an interesting little datapoint’s just cropped up.

My apartment’s a 1050-square-foot two bedroom, in a fairly large condo complex. There are a couple of similar apartments listed for sale, all of them offered at around the $1.5 million mark.

I had an email from the real estate dudes earlier this week, telling me to clean the place up a bit, because it’s going on sale. The list price: $1.3 million.

To be fair, the plural of “anecdote” is not “data” – but it’s interesting that the seller would even think about lowballing the price. Is the air about to come out of Singapore’s real estate market?

    Too darn much.
Suffice to say that the net yield on the place is somewhere around two-and-a-half percent.
