JRE’s Year in Review: August

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; and JRE’s Year in Review is here to recap it.

In August:

We all shouted SELL MORTIMER SELL, then TURN THOSE MACHINES BACK ON … quant fund unwinding sent the Dow swinging around like a kite in a hurricane, making once-in-10,000-year moves on three days in a row … the Ministry of Silly Walks stepped out of Monty Python and into real life … the iPhone was set free from its AT&T shackles, and later made a cameo on JRE … Kevin Rudd admitted to visiting notorious NYC strip club Scores during a taxpayer-funded trip to the UN; but he claimed he only did it because he thought it would give him a quick election …

And I was wishing I’d stayed on the island.
