The countdown starts now

The 19th of May is nine days away.
Still on the to-do list:

  • Multiple rounds of leaving drinks.
    I’ve done them in Albury (hi Ross, hi Acko, hi Joel); there’s still Melbourne-work and Melbourne-uni-mates to come;
  • Get the removalists in.
    I’m using Kent Moving, who apparently have a decent international service. The only disconcerting thing is the price tag: sixteen hundred bucks to move a few boxes of books and DVDs? Okay, yeah, an enormous computer monitor as well, and they’re storing it for a month, and door to door service… okay, maybe $1600′s not so bad;
  • Find a place in Singapore.
    This is harder than it sounds. There are no good real estate listing services in Singapore – singaporeexpats.com is about the best, and it’s still pretty atrocious if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. If you want to get an idea of what I’m after, search for 2-bedroom places in district 09.

Side note: there’s nothing quite like the sinking feeling you get when you look at the apartments that were SGD 3200/month six months ago, and realise that they’re now SGD 4000 or more.
